Things to know when buying a CNC spin forming machine and how to choose a suitable one

Many customers consider purchasing CNC spin forming machines, but have limited understanding of spin forming and how to assess whether it's suitable for their product production. Beyond price and performance, several key factors should be considered, which we will detail below.
① Select a CNC spin forming machine based on product thickness
For products with thicker walls and high diameter precision requirements, customers need to consider the rigidity and stability of the CNC spin forming machine. Poor rigidity and precision can lead to high scrap rates. When a spin forming machine processes thicker metals beyond its rated power, excessive wear and reduced processing accuracy can occur over time, lowering production efficiency. Therefore, customers should consider purchasing a high-power CNC spin forming machine. Typically, the feed rate of the tool rest on a high-power machine is slower than that of a standard machine. If the metal spun product is relatively thin and doesn't require high precision, a lower-thrust CNC spin forming machine can save costs. For higher efficiency, select a machine with a faster tool rest feed rate.
② Select a CNC spin forming machine based on product material
For aluminum production, a lightweight machine with a fast tool rest feed rate improves efficiency. For stainless steel, the machine should have good rigidity. Stainless steel processing requires strong spinning pressure; insufficient pressure can cause vibration or make it difficult to overcome the material's rebound, resulting in poor precision control.
③ Select a CNC spin forming machine based on product dimensions
For products exceeding 1 meter in diameter and high weight, two-person loading or a crane may be necessary. Customers should consider whether the machine facilitates crane loading of metal blanks. If the CNC spin forming machine's design is unsuitable for material handling, production efficiency will be affected. If the product height exceeds 400mm, consider whether the distance between the main spindle and tailstock center of the CNC spin forming machine allows for easy demolding.
